the perfect gift for home or office

The quality of your finished canvas image is directly related to the quality, size and condition of the original image. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when taking everyday photos. Remember that any everyday photo could turn into a treasured family moment!

When taking Photos with a Digital Camera
Set your digital camera for the highest quality and largest file size available (use little or no file compression). This will result in your memory stick holding a few less images, but the images will be much more viable for any photo printing and/or adjustments necessary for optimization.

Basic Photo-Taking Tips
(Traditional or Digital)
Keep your intended subject as prominent in the picture as possible. Avoid taking pictures into direct sunlight or in a very dark environment.

Image Requirements

Digital Images
Our preferred digital file format is jpeg (or jpg) at a resolution of 300 dpi (dots per inch). If you have set your digital camera settings to the highest quality (see column at left about Taking Photos with a Digital Camera), chances are quite good that your image will have the required resolution.

If you are unsure of the size/resolution of your image and are comfortable with maneuvering on your personal computer, you can follow these simple steps to estimate the viability of the image for printing on canvas. In Windows: With the image file visible in a document window, right click on the file, then select Properties.

  • If your image size is greater than 2 Mb, it is likely your image will have sufficient resolution to produce a good image on canvas.
  • Images whose size is between 700 Kb (0.7 Mb) and 2 Mb should still be viable.
  • Images whose size is smaller than 700 Kb (0.7 Mb) might prove challenging. We will be happy to evaluate any image for you. In any case, we will never print an image if we have concerns.

Traditional Images (Physical Prints)
Your physical prints are safe with us! We will carefully scan your image using our flatbed scanner at no extra charge. Although your original image(s) will always be returned with your finished canvas piece, please don't send one-of-kind, irreplaceable photographs, as there is always that one chance it could get lost in the mail. Local office supply stores and FedEx/Kinko's generally offer scanning services so that you could then send a digitized file of your priceless photograph.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please call and ask us! We are here to make sure you get the best image possible!
